The "salmon in the classroom " project this year is once again very popular with the local schools in Aberdeenshire and is supported by the local authority and the Don District Salmon Fishery Board through Jim Kerr and his colleagues Martin and Stephen.
This year the following schools are taking part :
? ? ? ? ?
Introductory presentations have already been made to a number of the participating schools while we are currently putting together the necessary equipment to place into the schools. The equipment is quite specialised as the eggs have to be kept below 10c else the eggs and fish will die. It comprises aquarium tanks, special cooler systems, pipework etc and can cost in the region of £1000 per set up so all donations gratefully received!!
It is hoped that we will put regular posting here on how the schools are getting on, perhaps linking to the authorities"whiteboard" systems so we can all regularly follow progress.
