River Don Trust--- Obstacle Removal

 

The table below gives details of the obstacles to fish passage on the Don. The blue links take you to photos of the obstacles. As of 24th. March 2009 applications for financial assistance to carry out engineering surveys has been provided. The removal of these obstacles would open up an amazing 142 km. of potentially new spawning habitat , longer than the main river stem!

A fish pass fitted to this weir would open up 11.81Km. of new catchment area.

Impassable to all species of freshwater fish
it was built in 1885 as a meal mill and is still in operation today.
Again would open up a large area of habitat
